Privacy Policy – WordHoop

Effective date: October 17, 2026
Last updated: October 17, 2026

Who we are and what this policy covers

Konrai LLC (“Konrai,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) develops WordHoop, a daily five-letter word game for iPhone, iPad and Android, available in English and Spanish (the “app”). This policy explains what information the app handles, how it is used, and the choices you have. It applies to WordHoop only. Our other apps have their own policies.

Information handled by the app

Game information on your device

The app does not require a Konrai account, and you do not sign in. Your game progress, statistics, streaks, settings (language, tile shape, appearance, word meanings on or off), words the app has confirmed online, and saved word meanings are stored on your device. Konrai does not receive this information.

Word and meaning lookups (Wikimedia)

The app works offline with a built-in word list. When the device is online, the app may contact Wiktionary, a Wikimedia Foundation service (en.wiktionary.org), for two optional purposes:

  • Checking a word. If you type a five-letter word that is not in the built-in list, the app sends that word to Wiktionary to see whether it is a real word.
  • Showing a meaning. After a puzzle ends, the app may send that puzzle’s answer word to Wiktionary to show its meaning. You can turn this off in Settings.

Only the word is sent. No account, device identifier or game history is included. Like any internet request, the request reveals your device’s IP address to Wikimedia, which handles it under its own privacy policy (foundation.wikimedia.org/wiki/Policy:Privacy_policy). If the lookup fails or you are offline, the game continues without it.

Purchases and platform services

WordHoop offers one optional one-time purchase, “Remove ads.” Purchases are processed by Apple’s App Store or Google Play, and Konrai does not receive your payment details. The app asks the store whether you own the purchase so it can hide ads, including after a reinstall or on a new device (“Restore purchase”). Apple and Google handle your information under their own policies.

Contacting us

If you contact Konrai for support or a privacy request, we receive the information you choose to provide, such as your email address and message. Please do not send sensitive information that is not needed to help you.

Advertising

The free version of WordHoop uses Google AdMob to display a banner ad on the home screen. Ads are not shown to players who have bought “Remove ads.” To show and measure ads, Google and its partners may collect and use information such as:

  • your device’s advertising identifier, where available and permitted;
  • your IP address and approximate location derived from it;
  • device information (model, operating system, language, app version);
  • information about ads shown, tapped or failed to load, and about app usage for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention.

Konrai does not receive this information from AdMob in a form that identifies you. For details, see Google’s policies: policies.google.com/privacy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. The app does not show Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt and does not combine ad data with other information that Konrai holds about you, because Konrai holds none.

Consent and privacy choices

Where applicable law requires it (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and some U.S. states), the app uses Google’s User Messaging Platform to ask for your privacy choices before ads are requested. If you decline, ads may not be shown. Where a choice must remain available, Settings in the app has a Privacy choices button that reopens the form so you can change your answer. You can also limit ad personalization in your device settings (iOS: Settings > Privacy & Security > Apple Advertising; Android: Settings > Privacy > Ads).

How information is used and shared

Information handled by the app is used to run the game, show word meanings, check words, show ads, and respond to your requests. It is shared only with the service providers described above (Wikimedia for lookups; Google AdMob for ads; Apple or Google for purchases). We do not sell your information for money. Some laws define “sale,” “sharing” and “targeted advertising” broadly, and advertising through AdMob may fall within those definitions where you have allowed it. We do not use your information to make automated decisions that have legal effects on you.

Retention and security

Game information stays on your device until you remove it by deleting the app or its data. It may also be kept in device backups, which follow Apple’s or Google’s own settings. Information held by Wikimedia, Google, Apple and Google Play follows their own retention policies. Support correspondence is kept as long as needed to help you and meet legal obligations. We use reasonable measures to protect the information we receive, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

International transfers

Third-party services such as Wikimedia and Google may process information in countries other than your own, including the United States.

Children’s privacy

WordHoop is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not ask for your date of birth and do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has contacted us or provided information, please email us and we will help. Consent forms and ad settings are not age-verification tools.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct or delete your personal information, to receive a copy of it, to restrict or object to certain processing, to withdraw consent (which does not affect processing already carried out), and to opt out of certain advertising-related processing. Because Konrai does not hold your game data or an account for you, most of this information is controlled on your device and by the providers above. To exercise a right with us, or to ask a question, email info@konraillc.com. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority. We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app or its providers change. The “Last updated” date above shows when it last changed. If a change is significant, we will take reasonable steps to tell you, such as a notice in the app or on our website.
